Year 5 2025-26
Welcome to Year 5 at Northbrook Primary Academy
In Year 5, we start our Upper Key Stage 2 journey and start getting prepared for our next steps in education. We are curious, intelligent learners who try our best in everything we do and make the most of exciting opportunities that come our way. We show enthusiasm as we explore new topics, as well as continuing to progress in our reading, writing and mathematics.
We have many exciting learning opportunities this year, including opportunities to learn about Vikings, the Industrial Revolution and the City of Liverpool. We have trips planned to museums, art galleries and visitors coming into school.
In Year 5, we nurture and care for each other and focus on becoming good citizens. We begin to take responsiblity around school, being good role models and supporting in the wider community. We take pride in what we do and work hard but also have fun along the way!

Year 5 Homework 2024-25
Homework will be set on a Friday to be completed by the following Thursday. In the first instance this will be paper based homework, and will reflect the learning we do in class, therefore children should be able to complete with a little support from you. The expectation is that children complete the homework tasks weekly and books are returned promptly by each Thursday, children are expected to present their homework well.
In addition to homework set, children must read at least 4 times per week, this can be a combination of a variety of books as well as Reading Plus.
